Missouri state officials are lobbying to keep your children safe. A bill discussed today in a Missouri State Senate Committee has fines of $500 for people who carelessly leave weapons where children can get them. The measure is called the Children`s Firearm Access Prevention Act. It would punish those who allow children under 17 to have easy access to weapons and ammunition. The bill provides for prosecuting someone who knows or should have known a child could gain access to weapons and ammo. Officials say more than 20 states have similar laws.
