By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
After four years as Joplin Police Chief Ed Dennis is stepping down. Since his arrival in 1998, Chief Dennis has worked tirelessly to improve a department he says could be among the best in the country. Now, after the birth of his second grandchild to family in Chicago, he says its time to move on. Joplin City Manager Steve Lewis commends Chief Dennis on implementing the new programs to the department and says he knows finding his replacement will not be easy. Chief Dennis` resignation becomes effective March 15th, giving city leaders enough time to begin its search for its new chief. No word from city leaders on who will serve as interim chief for the Joplin Police Department in the meantime.
