Budget Cuts Affecting Autism Center's Funding

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Governor Holden has also proposed wide spread budget cuts in several other state run departments. Those cuts would affect several local agencies including services for families of autistic children. State wide the service currently receives over $4 million dollars to provide support and training to parents and children. If the cuts are taken their annual budget will be reduced from the $4.7 million dollars to just %500,000 state wide. Governor Holden is asking law makers to dip into Rainy Day Funds to prevent funding cuts. The Center for Autism would have to drastically cut their hands on services in order to stay open with the drop in funding. The center will not know until May if their funding will be cut.
