Ottawa County Health Issues

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Health issues continue to plague a former Ottawa County manufacturing facility. During a public meeting Tuesday night, residents from Miami heard results from the cleanup of the former B.F.Goodrich plant. The state had filed suit against current owners, Ottawa Management Incorporated and Michelin North America. The companies were responsible for the removal of asbestos and cleaning a lagoon in which chemicals from the old tire plant had been dumped. A study revealed several areas of contamination. Recent tests found no immediate health risks for local residents and the Miami water supply is not in jeopardy.
