Updated: January 7, 2009
Local political committees make their nominations to fill a vacant county office. The Jasper County democrat and republican central committees have selected three names each to be considered to replace the late Jim Lobbey. Lobbey served as county clerk until his death earlier this month. The names submitted to the governor include republicans Marilyn Baugh, Bob Capps, and Lobbey`s wife Chris. The democratic nominees include Bonnie Earl, Russell Selvey and William Kelly. It is expected the governor will fill the vacancy with a democrat. A new county clerk will be elected in November.
