Meeting Held Over Dangerous Crosswalk

A dangerous crosswalk at Missouri Southern State College has made one student take a stand for other the safety of others. Sophomore Tracy Hamilton met with Missouri Southern president Julio Leon Thursday morning to express the students concerns about a crosswalk on Newman Road. The road is owned and operated by the state transportation department, meaning the school must get permission from the state before anything can be done. Leon says they have been talking to the highway department in hopes of putting a motion detection light at the crosswalk. The highway department says they will pay for the maintenance of the light, but the college will have to find funding for it before it will be installed.
