Updated: January 7, 2009
You may be seeing National Guard troops at the airport for longer than you thought. The Bush Administration has asked the National Guard to maintain a presence in some airports until the end of May and governor Holden has announced that Missouri will comply with the request. Holden said the mission will continue to be federally funded and will not contribute to the state`s budget concerns. Last November, the Missouri Guard assigned about 200 soldiers to eight commercial airports, including the Joplin Regional Airport.
