A state supreme court has upheld the first-degree murder conviction of a southeast Kansas man. The Kansas high court upheld the so-called hard 40-prison sentence for Freddy Boorigie of Neodesha. Boorigie was convicted for the 1998 killing of his wife, but the court said Boorigie must be re-sentenced on an arson conviction. Investigators say Boorigie strangled his wife and then set their southeast Kansas home on fire.
