Svitak Honored as Distinguished American

A county commission honors a fallen Four State hero. Newton county commissioners today passed a resolution recognizing the efforts of U.S. Army Sergeant Phillip Svitak. The 31-year-old Svitak was killed on Monday while serving with our armed forces in afghans tan. Svitak is a former Joplin resident whose parents live in Neosho. In passing the resolution the commission is making sure that Svitak will be among the names of distinguished Americans from the area who died in the service of our country.
