Updated: January 7, 2009
In Jasper County Court Monday morning, a Carthage teenage will spend the next year of his life in jail for the death of two area teens. 19-year old Christopher Tomblin was sentenced to 2 consecutive 6-month terms for involuntary manslaughter. In February, a jury found Tomblin guilty on two counts of involuntary manslaughter in connection with a fatal car accident in March of 2001. 17-year old Kelsey Richie and 16-year old Anna Iles died in that accident. Anna Iles` mother says she doesn`t think Tomblins punishment is fair. Lezlie Iles-Pruitt - Victim`s Mother "It`s a slap on the wrist, like I said, you can litter on the highways and get a stiffer fine and stiffer jail term than manslaughter." Anna Iles` grandmother says even though Tomblin was punished, it doesn`t ease the pain of losing a loved one. Linda Kinney - Victim`s Grandmother "When you lose a child, you move into a different realm of living, it`s a whole different world from now on, the pain never goes away, it may get different, but it never gets better." Tomblin will spend the next year in the Jasper County Jail.
