Thanks to a local civic group, visitors to the Children`s Center of Southwest Missouri won`t go away empty handed. Today, volunteers with the Exchange Club of Joplin presented the center with over 400 books. Ann Cope says the donation is designed to help victims of assault or neglect rebuild their self esteem. Ann Cope - Exchange Club Of Joplin "Each child leaves the center not only with a stuffed animal but they`re also given a book of the very own to take home and we have stamped on the inside of these books that they`re a gift of the Joplin Exchange Club and there`s a place for that child`s name so they have something that belongs to them." The Exchange Club raised just over $600 through various fundraisers to pay for the books. The Children`s Center tries to prevent the revictimization of assault or neglected children.
