An area park is scheduled for a major facelift. A federal grant will help fund a $370,000 upgrade at Landreth Park in Joplin. Plans call for the construction of two new shelter houses, two sets of restrooms and additional parking. A walking and jogging trail, small amphitheatre and two new playground areas will also be added. The federal grants are part of the land and water conservation fund. It`s a program used by city, county and state governments and school districts for outdoor recreation projects. Joplin Parks and Recreation officials say it could be a year before construction actually begins.
