Yet another fatal fire in the four states... This time near Carl Junction, Missouri, two separate house fires ripped thru the community over night. Yesterday, a Pittsburg man lost his life after a cigarette caught his house on fire, and last night the story may have been the same. The state fire marshal is investigating last nights fire in Carl Junction, and while no official cause has been determined, smoking in bed is a possibility. Over a dozen fire fighters responded to the call for help but the trailer was a total loss. County coroner Ron Mosbaugh says Gary Fred McBride died in the fire--his body was found in a hallway near the front door, He died of smoke inhalation. Just a few hours earlier, fire crews from Carl Junction were battling yet another blaze--this time at an abandoned trailer home near the Carl Junction VFW. No one was injured in that blaze, but crews stayed on the scene for over two hours. That home was a total loss, and fire officials are still working to determine what could have started that blaze.
