Victims Rights Week...

Two women who were victims of violent crimes spoke out about the importance of victim`s advocacy groups at the ceremony today. One victim says advocacy programs, like one which has been implemented in Newton County, Help victims through the judicial process. The purpose of the program is to make court proceedings easier on the victim by teaming them with a court liaison who goes through the process with them. Tuesday, the victims also gave Newton county police officers, prosecuting attorneys and other officials special thanks for their help during the rough time in their lives. Judge Tim Perigo was awarded a certificate for his commitment to guarantee victims certain constitutional rights during the court process.
