Some Joplin residents are back in the light after losing power for several hours last night. Officials with Empire District Electric say 200 customers were without power last night after a motorist knocked over a utility pole at 26th and Delaware. The accident knocked out power around 9:30 last night, in the area of 26th to 31st streets between Connecticut and Arizona. Some customers had power back by 1:00 a.m., while others had to wait until 4:00 in the morning. 44-year old Kathy Smith of Joplin was arrested for D.W.I., possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and child endangerment. Police say a 16-year old girl and 21-year old male were in the car at the time. No serious injuries were reported.
