The Future of Picher

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Residents in a four state community continue to wait for a buyout or relocation options from state and federal officials. Picher Mayor Sam Freeman says city leaders are still waiting on recommendations from the president`s council on the environment concerning their options. The different options include relocating the town, if the government should buy it out, or if the area should be turned into a wet land. Mayor Freeman says the business of the city should not be slowed or stopped while waiting on the options. He told ksn today that he is not opposed to any of the options. Reported By: Ryan Loyd
