New Mayor in Galena

Updated: January 7, 2009
A familiar face is at the helm of a Four State city. The Galena City Commission has selected Dale Oglesby as its new mayor. The commission met this morning and chose Oglesby to replace Mark Laturner who resigned to work on his master`s degree at Pittsburg State. Oglesby says his vision for the future of Galena will definitly include a regional correctional facility. "If it happens it will be a very vital part of the city`s long term plan," said Oglesby, "If it doesn`t we`ll have to look at alternative ways to fund projects that need to be done. Like other cities, we`ve all got things that need to be done and money answers most of these questions." Ogelsby says the city is still waiting to find out if they can get financing for the project, which he says will not compete with a proposed new county jail. This marks the third time Oglesby has been chosen mayor of Galena. Reported By: Stuart Price
