Trial Postponed

The trial of a Four State man accused of the murder of his girlfriend has been postponed. The trial of Darrel Ray Jones of Neosho was scheduled to begin today in Lawrence County on a change of venue. That trial is now set to begin on November 6th. 31-year old Jones is charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of his girlfriend 41-year-old Janice Brunson. Brunson`s body was found in February of 2001 in a truck near Boulder City. Brunson was shot once in the abdomen and once in the chest with a 12-gauge shotgun. Her body was dumped in the Camp Crowder conservation area near Neosho. Jones has pleaded not guilty to the crime. If convicted of the first degree murder charges, Jones could face the death penalty or life in prison with out parole. Jones will be back in court for pre-trial motions on September 4th.
