Former Fort Scott Teacher Sentenced

A former Four State teacher has been sentenced for secretly videotaping students while they were using a tanning bed in his home. Randy Carter, a former teacher and coach for the Fort Scott school district pleaded guilty to charges of eavesdropping and attempted sexual exploitation of a child. Friday, in the Bourbon County courtroom, Carter received his sentence. He will spend 12 months in the county jail, which will be followed by 24 months of supervised probation. Carter will also lose his teaching licence, and must register as a sex offender. He has also been ordered to have no contact with any of the five victims in the case, and he cannot step foot on any school grounds in the state of Kansas. Under the terms of the sentence, if Carter violates his probation after serving his prison sentence, he will spend another 32 months in a correctional facility. Reported By: Robin Rogers
