Police Chief First Day

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Last month a committee of Joplin residents named Kevin Lindsey as the new Police Chief. Today was his first day in the position. Chief Lindsey has had a busy day getting to know everyone at the Joplin Police Department, and it was a first day he described as routine. Lindsey comes from the town of Madison, Wisconsin, which is a suburb of the city of Madison. The new top cop says the major difference between the two jobs is the department size. The force in Madison was about 20 people, while Joplin`s police force has 77 members. The chief says Joplin residents can expect "professionalism at all times, a man of integrity." Lindsey is also looking forward to establishing permanent residence in Joplin and getting involved in the community. He says some of his top priorities are education, the D.A.R.E. program and the local drug problem. Reported By: Sheradee Scott
