Updated: January 7, 2009
While most students are starting school two are graduating. After taking part in an intensive drug program, two local participants have completed the program. The Newton County adult drug court program is a one year program, involving testing and treatment for any non-violent criminal. As soon as the graduate completes the program, any charges filed against them are dismissed. Organizers say it`s a positive alternative. "It`s a really accountable program and more so than any other punishment, including prison,"said Ann Wilson, Coordinator of the court program. This year marks the 40th circuit drug court program for the state of Missouri. Reported By: Sarah Kyle
