Updated: January 7, 2009
A high speed chase ends in a car colliding into a telephone pole early this morning. Webb City police officers heard what was thought to be a gunshot near Main and Macarthur. Officers followed a white buick century with four male passengers that was seen leaving the area. The suspects then led officers on a pursuit starting on Hall Street continuing to College Heights Church, where a weapon was thrown into the parking lot. The chase came to an end when the vehicle hit a pole at Elm and Chapel Road in Carthage. Three of the men ran, one was bitten by the canine unit. He was treated at the scene. Three weapons were recovered from the chase, one of which is thought to have been stolen from a burglary in Joplin. The driver is believed to be from the Galena, Kansas area.
