Highway 59 Facelift

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Construction workers begin their efforts to repair a busy local highway... for the second time. Construction officially began on this second attempt to repair Highway 59 near Noel. Traffic has been detoured onto Highway 90 since June when heavy rains caused the road to break off and slide down toward the Elk River. That was just one month after officials completed initial repairs to the road. Today was the first day of the second round of contruction on the roadway. The project is expected to be finished by December 21st. Ehen completed, the highway will be filled with rock and gravel. Also, a 300 foot retaining wall will be built around the curve to prevent it from sliding again. Reported By: Sheradee Scott
