Four state college students return with a win from Washington D.C. Team members from the Crowder College Solar Decathalon team returned yesterday. After three weeks of living and working together in our nation`s capital, the crowder college solar decathalon team is happy to be home and satisified with the outcome of the competition. The team placed first in the People`s Choice category and tied for first in the Excellence in Engineering division. The students placed sixth overall in the ten events. Team members said they gave several tours and answered detailed questions, but ironically the most asked question wasn`t about the solar house at all. Team member, Monty Pugh-Towe says, "The number one question was where is Crowder College? No one knew were we were. And the number one answer was the southwest corner of Missouri in Neosho." Crowder College had the smallest student population of all fourteen schools in attendance. Most of the colleges averaged a student body of twenty thousand, while crowder has around two thousand. Team members said their size didn`t effect the clean-up time. It only took the group two of the four alotted days to tear down the house. The structure and furnishings are currently on their way back to the Crowder campus. The next Solar Decathalon will be in 2004, and team members say it will take two years to prepare for the next competition. Reported By: Sheradee Scott
