A suspect in the murder of a Joplin woman makes an appearance in court. Twenty seven year old Cordell Cain of Tulsa, Oklahoma was in a Newton County courtroom for a pre-trial conference today. Cain has been named as one of three suspects in the 2001 murder of Kendace DeCarlo. Prosecutors worked to get the legal process moving. "I suggested to the court that judge Stremmel give him a public defender application because he would probably qualify for the public defender and the public defender could always withdraw when a private council entered, because nothing is happening on the case so long as he is unrepresented and it really needs to move along,"said Patricia Loveland,Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. Kendace DeCarlo was found shot to death in her Joplin home in July of last year. According to affidavits in the case Cain is being identified to as the shooter in the murder. Cain will be back in court on December 10th to meet with his public defender. Reported By: Robin Rogers
