Updated: January 7, 2009
An Aurora woman is facing charges of child abuse after her children are found with multiple rat and mice bite wounds. Charlee Heitz, 22, was charged after her two children were taken to the Aurora Community Hospital with multiple bite wounds that were bleeding. Officers say the children were found in the attic of Heitz`s house, strapped in child seats and being bitten by rats. In addition to the child abuse charges, Heitz is also facing three separate charges of endangering the welfare of a child. Those charges allege the house the children were living in was infested with filth, rodents and drug paraphernalia. Heitz`s bond has been set at $65,000. She will be in court for an arraignment hearing Thursday morning.
