Flu Closing Schools

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The flu virus is forcing local schools to cancel classes. The Liberal school district called off class today after about 30-percent of its students were absent due to illness. But with a big basketball tournament this weekened they`re still practicing because the team is healthy. And school officals are doing everything they can to get the rest of students back in the building. "Our janitoral staff is working a full day today and that`s all we`re concerned with right now is sterilizing the whole building. We`re wiping walls down, desks down and definitely the water fountains and restrooms are being hit hard,"said Bill Harvey, Liberal Superintendent. After surveying whether sick students would be in class tomorrow Liberal has decided to cancel for the rest of the week. Aurora, Dadeville and all Joplin Catholic schools have made the same decision. And even though Lamar has 21-percent of their students ill, they will still have class tomorrow. Reported By:Jennifer Grannan & Priscilla Mace
