breaking news
The snow wasn`t the only thing that caused area school leaders to cancel classes today. The Joplin R-8 school district joined the list of area schools which were forced to close today due to illness. Joplin school leaders say close to 30-percent of students were out with the flu. Combined with this morning`s snow the decision to cancel classes was an easy one. "The flu people are going to be home recuperating. So the snow may help us get a little healthier. So we stay home get the rest and maybe that`s going to be a good thing. We`re out today for snow, we`re also helping our students get healthier and rest up," said Dr. Jim Simpson, Superintendent Joplin R-8 Schools.
At this time Joplin school leaders still plan to hold classes tomorrow. Continue to watch KSN for updates on all school closing.
