Updated: January 7, 2009
More than 200 new jobs will be coming to Miami Oklahoma. A ribbon cutting was held today for the Tracker Marine Plant in Miami. Tracker is the world`s largest manufacturer of freshwater fishing and pontoon boats. The plant will be the exclusive buider of Tracker`s Tahoe boat line. Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry was on hand today for a ribbon cutting of the facility. Tracker representatives say Miami was selected as the company`s new location because of the proximity to the corporate office in Springfield Missouri. But they say it`s the warm welcome they have received from the community that has made them feel at home. Governor Henry says this is a proud day for Oklahomans. "I think it`s just the beginning. We expect that once tracker really gets into production their going to see how productive the Oklahoma workforce is and their going to hire more employees. It`s just a great day for Oklahoma in general Northeast Oklahoma,"said Henry. The first Tracker boat is expected to come off the assembly line in March. The company intends to hire as many as 250 workers from the area within the next two years. Applications are being accepted at workforce Oklahoma which is located on Main Street in Miami.
