Joplin authorities continue to investigate a series of suspicious weekend grass fires. Fire officials say there were five grass fires in Joplin yesterday. 48-year old Anthony Degonia of Joplin was taken into custody in connection with one of the fires in Landreth park. He pleaded guilty in municipal court to tresspassing and unlawful burning for that fire. Degonia was sentenced to one day in jail. Now City Prosecutor Dan Bagely says he didn`t know about the other fires at the time of Degonia`s plea. Police continue to investigate whether the suspect was connected to the other fires.
