The quality of your child`s education may be in jeopardy.
The Missouri Senate will decide this week whether to use tobacco bonds to help avoid budget cuts to education. Last week the House passed a bill that would use a 150 million tobacco bond to help the deficit. If the bill is not passed by the Senate Missouri Governor Bob Holden would be forced to cut over 80 millon dollars from schools.
"There are no easy answers. The answers to this are so difficult. There is no winners. This is truly a no win situation. The House did a good job of that and they have met the Governor half way. I`m very pleased with the house effort,"said Dr. Jim Simpson, Joplin Superintendent
If the Senate does not approve the use of the tobacco bonds, Joplin schools could have almost a million dollars of their budget cut. The Senate will make their decision later this week.
