Updated: January 7, 2009
Four State Police officers undergo extensive training. That training helped Joplin officers make the right decisions during last weeks shootout. A computer program at Missouri Southern State College simulates real life police work. It`s called fire arms training system,F.A.T.S for short. There are various weapons and scenarios the students may use. And all are hooked into the computer to measure their skills. "It does expose them to real objects and real things that are occurring around them their heart rate will increase based on this which is good. Its putting them in the situation as close to real life without then getting hurt,"said Mike Hulderman,Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. If you would like to learn more about the Criminal Justice program you may call Missouri Southern at (417) 625-9302. Reported By:Brad Douglas
