Brownback in Pittsburg

Updated: January 7, 2009
As the prospect of war looms the united states government says it`s important for the general public to be behind them. US Senator Sam Brownback was in Pittsburg, Kansas today and took a moment to speak on the issue. Senator Brownback says he supports war,but only as a last resort. He says the United States has been dealing with Sadaam Hussien for 12 years and it`s time for him to disarm. The Kansas Senator says we`ve tried everything from economic sanctions to global isolation with no avail. Brownback did say action against Iraq will not come from just the US. It will be a coalition of the willing nations who will come together. But no matter what happens he says it`s important for the public to support the government`s actions. "It`s not anything that anybody wants to do, but the alternative, which is to do nothing and let him continue-he then pursues nuclear weapons, he has terrorists then he can distribute chemical and biological weapons and then we live in fear,"said Sen.Sam Bronback. So while nobody wants a war Brownback says soon there may be no other solution in order to get Sadaam to disarm. The Senator says doing nothing leaves us to rely on Sadaam`s good graces. And Brownback says he`s not willing to depend on Sadaam`s good graces not to use the same weapons he`s used in the past. Reported By:Jennifer Grannan
