The lights at an area children`s club will be shining brighter than ever once improvements begin.
Officials say the Miami Boys and Girls Club will receive a $20,000 grant to make much needed improvements to the club`s interior, including light fixutres, heating and cooling units, ceiling tiles, and floor coverings.
Unit director Catherine Gonzales said, "The county and the city have their own buildings and they write their own grants. So what`s happened is they`ve written a grant and then they`re gonna updgrade their building which we`re using. The upgrades are gonna help the Boys and Girls Club."
The grant is made possible through the U.S. Department of Agriculture`s Rural Development Program.
The programs promote self-sustaining, long-term economic and community development in rural areas.
