The U.S. Department of Defense is asking that unsolicited mail headed to U.S. troops overseas, such as care packages or "any soldier" type mail, come to a stop. Officials say they can provide an avenue for dangerous substances or materials to enter into the military mail system. Also, the donations and packages can take up valuable space needed for military supplies. The Department says those wishing to offer support to U.S. troops can instead long on to the internet and send virtual greetings and thank you cards. Here are a few websites they are suggesting:
