Updated: January 7, 2009
Three Joplin police officers are recognized for their heroic acts. Sergeant David Newell, Officer Gary McKinney, and Officer Justin Keller were presented with a city resolution today. The resolution was for apprehending Paul Cox on Valentines Day. As you may remember,Cox was the man who was shot in downtown Joplin after he fired several rounds at the officers. The officers recall the events of that day like it was yesterday. The officers say none of them had ever fired a weapon at someone, nor has anyone ever fired at them. But Sergeant David Newell says it`s a memory he`ll never forget. State Representative Bryan Stevenson presented the officers with the resolution. Reported By:Ryan Loyd
