Updated: January 7, 2009
A mystery illness that has plagued Asia may have hit the four states. Severe Acute Respitory Syndrome, or SARS is a potentially deadly illness that has been reported in hundreds of people in Asia. Now, health officials are awaiting confirmation of cases in Springfield and St. Louis, Missouri and in Topeka, Kansas. Symptoms include fever of at least 100-point-4, difficulty breathing and coughing, but doctors say you shouldn`t be too alarmed. "The spread of this in the community is not very likely. It`s really being seen more in close contact with patients who are sick in the hospital and health care workers and people who have been to these some of the areas where it began, said Dr Rick Scacewater, St. John`s Pulmonoligist. If you experience any of the symptoms of SARS, you`re encouraged to contact your doctor immediately. Reported By:Brad Douglas
