Newton County Drug Bust

Officers make several arrests in the largest marijuana bust in Newton County. More than 50 pounds of marijuana,with an estimated street value of 300-thousand dollars,was found at a Joplin home around two o`clock this morning. The bust happened at 2856 Chipmunk in Joplin where officers found marijuana in bags and suitcases throughout the house. Investigators also found 83 grams of cocaine in the home. Officers have charged 49-year old Steven Duncan and 21-year old Mattie Flaherty with drug trafficking, and possession of a controlled substance. Thirty year old Oscar De Leon has also been charged with two counts of possession in connection with the bust. Once the investigation is complete, investigators will get a court order to burn it.
