A Joplin stand off turns up a suspect a murder investigation. An arrest has been made in connection with yesterday`s early morning shooting in the streets of Joplin.
21-year old Jason Price of Joplin was taken into custody last night after a stand-off with police inside a Joplin home.
When police searched the home, they found evidence which they say links price to the murder of 43-year old Farzin Eric Ghassemi. Police have charged price with second degree murder and armed criminal action. The charges are in connection with the death of Eric Ghassemi who was shot to death just outside his home early Tuesday morning.
Price was arrested yesterday afternoon at 2502 Kentucky in Joplin after police received a call price had ran into the house armed with a gun. Officers were able to talk the suspect out of the house without using gunfire, and he was arrested on a probation violation. The Joplin Police Department says a search of the house price was hiding in revealed a weapon investigators believe could have been used in the murder earlier that day. "Searched the house and after quite some time a weapon was found that matches the description of the weapon that was used in the homicide yesterday morning,"said Lt. Delmar Haase, Joplin Police Department. Price is currently being held in the Joplin City Jail, awaiting transfer to the Jasper County jail. He`s being held on 100 thousand dollars bond. A date for an arraignment hearing has not been set at this time. Police say the incident yesterday morning started as an arguement inside Ghassemi`s home, but they`re not sure what the men were arguing about.
