Joplin Relief Effort

The generosity of four state residents is evident,as many people do what they can to help the tornado victims. Several organizations have given supplies to the families, but there is one member of the family who is being left out. A few family pets were among those who lost their homes during sunday`s deadly tornadoes. That`s why the Joplin Humane Society is asking for donations of dog food and houses for the pets. "Setting up a disaster rescue team. We`ve actually got three going right now one in Carl Junction, one in Stockton, one in Pierce City. Our primary objective is to provide food water for the animals rescue any animals that may be trapped or injured,"said Tim Rickey, Humane Society of Missouri. Workers at the Humane Society are also asking for water donations for the animals. "There`s a lot of people out there that can`t afford to buy dog food. We also are going to need dog house. A lot of these animals that had shelter have been carried away. And they`re going to be out there during their storms,"Regina Dury, Joplin Salvation Army. And obviously their human owners are still in need of donations too. The Joplin Salvation Army is distributing food and clothing to the victims of the tornado. "The clothing would be the casual type of clothing, like if their going to go out digging through the rubble with. Like tennis shoes, jeans, t-shirts that kind of thing in all sizes. Adults and children,"said Regina Dury, Joplin Salvation Army. And the Crossroads churches is doing a similar effort by collecting goods. "I think it`s overwealming. As far as the support from the community when we have a disaster like this. I think it`s just amazing. Very heartwarming that we have in the community we have that much support of those in need,"said Pat Black, Crosslines Churches.
