Updated: January 7, 2009
Almost a week after tornados rip through the four states, one group is giving praise to the clean up efforts. Crawford county, Kansas authorities met this morning to review the damage and to talk about the recovery progress that`s in full swing. Kansas state officials have set damage estimates in excess of 22-million dollars. Officials also say seven counties in Kansas, including Cherokee and Crawford, were among the hardest hit areas in the state. "Of course initially it was search and rescue. When that was done, emotions are so high people are upset. But then there`s people making joking comments and things like that, thanking us,"said Sandy Horton, Crawford County Sheriff. Horton says it`s a good idea for families to apply for FEMA grants even if you don`t think you qualify. Reported By:Ryan Loyd
