Yesterday`s tragic death of a 12 year old Carl Junction boy who was riding his bicycle, serves as a reminder of the importance of bicycle safety.
Debra Johnson is an avid bike rider and she has a few tips for safe riding. She advises to always wear knee pads and elbow guards. She says it`s also important to wear clothing that fits tightly to the body. And when riding on the street, always be aware of your surroundings and ride with the traffic.
But above all, she says you must wear a helmet."Number one is the helmet. Just because, of all the parts and pieces you have on your body. The head is the hardest to heal. So that should be the one that should be protected the most,"said Johnson. Debra also advises to wear gloves to help protect your hands and prevent your arms from going numb in an accident should happen. For more safety tips, long onto the National Bike Safety Network
