A Community Divided

Updated: January 7, 2009
As a four state community comes together to celebrate, many residents remain divided on other issues. According to the mayor of Galena, Kansas, the community is divided almost in half over how the city should be run. It all seems to have begun when some citizens started a petition to oust Police Chief Cameron Arthur. Galena Mayor Lynne Hardman says the division that`s come as a results needs to be fixed and not just brushed aside. She`s not sure what exactly the solution is, but she`s researching a special commission to work as a mediatior. While Hardman says she`s not positive this will work. At least the community is trying to do something to mend the disagreement. She also says if this doesn`t work she`ll keep coming up with ideas until something does. Reported By:Jennifer Grannan
