Updated: January 7, 2009
Jasper County is asking the state to pay for a five-day prisoner-extradition trip taken by a Captain in the department. The department submitted a 17-hundred dollar tab to the state for the trip taken by Captain Jeff Carr and his wife, Kay, also a department employee. But according to a report published today in a local newspaper the carrs spent four nights in Florida before picking up the prisoner and driving back to Jasper County. The newspaper reports that two nights were spent at Panama City beach and two more in Tampa. The prisoner, Kelli Thompson, is charged with possession of a controlled substance. Jeff Carr is jail administrator in the Sheriff`s Department. His wife is supervisor of the communications division. Carr says he took his wife because the prisoner being returned is female.
