Carpino Preliminary Hearing Scheduled

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The court case of a Four State elected official is once again put on hold. The preliminary hearing for Sharon Carpino is now scheduled for October 18th. Carpino remains in office as the treasurer for Cherokee County. She could face three felony and 10 misdemeanor charges for various incidents back in 1999. Today`s scheduled preliminary hearing was pushed back after the defense asked for more time to go over the massive amounts of paperwork associated with this case. The state must file formal charges against Carpino before early November or the two-year statute of limitations will run out on the allegations. Sharon Carpino remains in office in Cherokee County until October 9th when her term runs out. She did not opt to run for re-election.
