Some local residents are without power after this morning`s storms. Several blocks in Joplin were without electricity as a power surge shut down service. The area affected from 15th to 36th streets and Main to porter.
About nine homes suffered the most serious damage. Two people sustained minor burns in the incident. The homes most directly affected had smoke and fire damage where the surge fried the electric lines. The cause of the problem is still under investigation.
