Deployed 414th

Updated: January 7, 2009
Family members of the 414th reserve military police unit are dealing with saying goodbye to their loved ones again today. But,it wasn`t the entire 414th who left today. About one and a half platoons from the 414th are being used to fill another unit that`s being deployed overseas. No soldier looks forward to leaving his or her family behind, but those who left today say they are excited to be doing their part to serve their country. The men and women who left this afternoon have orders for 12 months but that could be extended up to two years. Those orders could also be dropped at any time. Officials with the 414th say the reservist who left today may end up pulling double duty. Again, not every member of the 414th was deployed on this mission today. And there are some men and women who didn`t serve in Guantanamo Bay heading out to serve their country for the first time. One soldier who left today says he`s unsure exactly where he`s going. But the group is ready to do their job. Reported By: Jennifer Grannan
