Galena Investigation

A formal investigation is underway to see if a city commission violated state open meeting laws. And now the investigation could lead to criminal charges being filed. Three Galena City Commissioners are being investigated by the Cherokee County Sheriff`s Department. Those three members are Marion Davies, Scott Donaldson and Daryl Shoemaker.
The three commissioners were interviewed last week, and now prosecuting attorney Joanna Derfelt has requested a formal investigation into the matter. Davies and Shoemaker denied the allegations,but Donaldson admitted to the unlawful meeting when questioned by investigators. Police Chief Cameron Arthur told Sheriff`s deputies the violations may have resulted in the unlawful dismissal of city manager Jack Murray.
