Updated: January 7, 2009
One four state deputy is lucky to be uninjured after wet weather causes her to crash her patrol car. Officials with the Jasper County Sheriff`s department say one of their deputies drove through a large puddle and lost control of her vechicle. The accident happened at Newman and Rangeline around 2:30 this morning. Reports indicate the patrol car began hydroplaning, spun out, and hit a guard rail. Officers say the accident serves as proof how dangerous wet weather can be. "She wasn`t responding to a call, just driving along at a regular speed and so it just shows you that no matter what you do you can`t avoid it...accidents happen,"said Lt. Gail Bass, Jasper County Sheriff`s Department. Lieutenant Bass says patrol cars are involved in accidents more than the department would like, but says it`s just part of the job.
