Over 50-thousand people will soon fill the city of Carthage for an annual celebration. The 27th annual marian days celebration begins on Thursday. With the huge turn-out the event draws each year,it also gives a giant boost to local businesses. All the rooms in Motel 8 in Carthage have been reserved for the week and motel workers are currently bringing in more beds. Local restaurants such as the Oriental Villa also see a dramatic increase in business."Yeah it tends to be a very busy time of the year. Yesterday was extremely busy day for us and I think its a nice time of the year when they do come to town. Like I said it just brings a lot of business to this area,"said Marcie Christy, Oriental Villa Workers at the Oriental Villa say their business increases by almost 50-percent during the week of Marian days.
